Here is our first blog post to track our activities. In 2015 we have undertaken several fundraising initiatives to help us raise funds to improve the sound in the auditorium. You may have seen us selling refreshments, cushions, and collecting donations. Now we are seeking business sponsors. If you have or know of a potential business supporter please let us know.
The Auditorium
With a seed grant from the Catonsville Women's Giving Circle in 2015, we were able to have an acoustics firm provide guidance on how to improve the sound. The first step will be to remove sound absorptive material that was added to the sides of the presidium. With money from our fundraising and a generous gift from the Class of 2015, the Friends group is planning to begin renovations on the auditorium in 2016. The work may have wait until the summer months so student activities won't be disrupted.
Another acoustical problem was created when most of the balcony was enclosed to create two new classrooms. The wall is a reflective surface where we don't want one. This area will need acoustical modification. We will have more details in the future.
