November update.

It seems that the new sound system is waiting on the installation of a new electrical outlet (this is my understanding). Meanwhile the play was a great success. The audience went wild. 

The four acoustical panels made an instant and noticeable improvement in the sound of the instrumental  performances. Two more are desired and are currently at the top of the list for where we direct our money. What can be done to improve the overall acoustics of the auditorium is not quite clear and could be very expensive and complicated. If we can make significant improvements now we will spend the money. Also it makes sense to reevaluate acoustical treatments after the new sound system is installed.
